Choosing a Class
It is the intention of the Institute to provide different styles of practice so that each person can choose the one which suits them best and fulfills their particular goals. Our highly complementary styles of Yoga may be studied simultaneously. The benefits of all types of Yoga on your physical, mental and emotional health are immense. A typical Yoga class blends postures, movement, breathing, relaxation and meditation. Students benefit immensely from a consistent and diverse Yoga practice. Wear loose comfortable clothes and bring a towel. We wish you a rewarding experience!

Introduction/Level 1
We provide a progressive series for total beginners in all styles of Yoga practised at the Institute. These classes give you a basic foundation in yoga practise: postures, movements, breathing techniques and meditations. Each class ends with either a short meditation session and or relaxation period.
Kundalini Yoga & Meditation Classes
Kundalini Yoga & Meditation
For empowerment, vitality, endurance, concentration and personal growth. Kundalini Yoga combines posture, movement, stretches, breath, meditation and mantra to carry us to a deeper awareness of the Authentic Inner Self. Through various sets of Yoga postures, the chakras (energy centres) are awakened and balanced.

Each Chakra radiates a particular energy important to our health, state of mind, and general well being. Each chakra is associated with particular aspects of our physical, emotional and mental being, including our talents and skills. We will explore how to further open the chakra centers and balance and elevate their vibration.

The spine, ligaments and muscles are strengthened and stretched to develop a strong and flexible body structure. Furthermore, your glandular and nervous systems are energized and balanced, increasing self-healing and vitality, and strengthening the inner core of your body.
Kundalini Meditation
During meditation, mantras, mudras (specific hand and finger positions) and breath techniques are used to calm, and uplift the mind. The practice of Kundalini Meditation awakens the unlimited creative potential of the greater Self.
Sadhana

Yoga and Meditation for Conscious Pregnancy
Prenatal (Kundalini) Yoga uses postures, breathing, and meditation to help mothers-to-be discover a deeper sense of peace and harmony within. Gain flexibility, focus, strength, and awareness through a gentle practice that is designed especially for the pregnant woman's needs. It is a time for connecting, nurturing, slowing down and learning to meditate, while being in the company of other mothers-to-be.

A KUNDALINI PRENATAL CLASS INCLUDES;

Stretches and exercises that are presented with variations appropriate for all stages of pregnancy. There will always be kegels and squats.

A 3 minute “keep up exercise”. These are some of the best preparations for labor because they safely develop strength and take you beyond what you thought you could do.

Time to connect directly with your baby, sometimes through singing and dancing.

Meditation and breath work. This practice helps you to make better decisions, to respect yourself and others, and to feel calmer and more at ease.

Deep Relaxation, so you can leave class feeling calm and refreshed.
Hatha Yoga Classes

The Hatha approach incorporates the whole person, reminding us that the body is merely a temple to the spirit. The asanas (postures) are designed to relax and purify the mind and body, thus improving overall well-being, and resulting in a stronger, leaner and more vigorous body. Hatha yoga is a traditional form of yoga that includes asanas (posture), pranayama (breath work), and meditation. It aims to cultivate inner awareness of the multi-layered aspects of our being.

Hatha Yoga is a diverse family of Yoga practices. We offer 2 of the most widely recognized ones, Kripalu (more gentle) and Hatha Vinyasa (more vigorous). See below for details.
Kripalu Yoga
For relaxation, inner focus, and flexibility. A class begins with centering, followed by gentle stretches, moving into postures with an emphasis on alignment, awareness of breath and an acceptance of all physical sensations. In a compassionate and non judgmental way you are encouraged to be present in the moment and to move at your own pace, honoring your body's feedback. The most essential teaching in Kripalu Yoga is the practice of self-observation without judgment. When you fully experience sensations consciously without labeling or judging them, the doorway to your higher self is opened, this is what we call "Witness Consciousness". It unifies mind, body and spirit by making you aware of the inborn wisdom that iscommunicated by your body at every moment.
Hatha Vinyasa
Hatha Vinyasa is a dynamic practice which emphasizes stability and strength in equal proportion to flexibility. Focusing on present moment awareness, it links one posture to the next in a unique flow, which, in essence, is a manifestation of the subtle movement of the life force, of prana. Hatha Vinyasa promotes balance; a balance of strength and flexibility, lightness and heaviness, movement and stillness. Through vinyasa one may come to know the vibration of life. This integration arises when breathing and movement become one. The mind is then set free and the practice becomes like a meditation in motion, and can act as a conduit for a deeper exploration of our core identity and being.
Yin Yoga and Restorative
Yin Yoga is an excellent complement to active asana practices (yang). A Yin practice consists of relaxed floor poses, held for a few minutes at a time. The poses emphasize connective tissues (not the muscles) of the hips, thighs, pelvis and lumbar spine. A Yin practice regulates the energy flow in the body, induces awareness and a relaxed focus, while preparing the mind and body for longer meditation practices. Through supported asanas, Restorative Yoga seeks to increase flexibility and stamina, conserve energy, tone the body’s organs and relieve mental and physical stress. This practice helps to rejuvenate the entire body and creates a feeling of balance, peace and tranquility.
Ki and Heart Meditation Experience the depth of your Heart and the mystery of ki (universal life energy). Discover your life purpose and experience how your intentions can influence others.
